John Stott

John was born in Aberdeen in 1949, attended Aberdeen Grammar School and Aberdeen University and started work in the legal profession in 1971.   He was for many years a partner in another firm of solicitors but joined Esslemont Cameron Gauld as a part-time consultant in May 2005.  John has particular experience in family law (and has served on the National Committee of the Scottish Family Law Association) but has also dealt extensively with employment law, accident claims, contract disputes, debt collection and various other areas of civil court work.  He is currently Junior Vice President of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen and is Joint Trades Clerk and Assessor of the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen.

John has a keen interest in theatre and has acted in amateur drama in Aberdeen Arts Centre, His Majesty’s Theatre, and the Lemon Tree among other venues as well as being involved in writing (notably Attic Theatre pantomimes) directing and helping backstage.

Shona, born in 1959, is from a farming background and grew up beside New Deer. She is a former pupil of Ellon Academy and graduated from Aberdeen University in 1979. She joined Esslemont & Cameron in 1980 and was assumed as a partner in 1985. She is now a Consultant working part-time. Her areas of work include Company Secretarial Services, Wills, Trusts and Executries and Care and Welfare of the Elderly. She is a Notary Public and a member of the Society of Advocates.
